The Amsterdam Sex Museum has as full name: "The temple of Venus". It is located on the busiest spot in the city; the main street called Damrak. The exhibition has a nice collection of artifacts and it shows you the history of sex. One of the museums in Amsterdam that is on the wild side of the city. This museum exists for more than 20 years and in that time they gathered an interesting collection of art, photographs, china, plates and other unique objects. |

Although the collection teaches the history of sex, the museum definitely also has some elements of a theme park in it, where the younger teenagers will laugh and giggle. Like the two giant phallus's standing erect and the woman's scream of joy from the speakers, will certainly attracts everybody's attention.
This museum managed to be interesting, playful, without being blunt pornographic. It is well organized and worth a visit if you like to know more about the history of sex.
How to get there?

The Museum is a very short walk of only 4 minutes from the central station. Just go straight out of the Station into Damrak. If you want to go from your hotel or bed and breakfast you can take any bus or tram which goes to the central station. |
